"The Laugh's On Me," the
newest 2ollection of humorous
stories by Bennett Cerf,
America's
leading story-
teller, publish-
ed b3 Double-
d a y, contains
more than
2 , 0 0 0
dotes,
t es, per-
sona' recollec-
tions about
scores of not-
ables and ob-
Cerf servations that
will delight his readers.
Appearing in a listing of 100
categories, people in all walks
of life are entertained in this
book about their professions
and trades and their confreres
in many callings.
Many of the observations, in
their anecdotal form, contain
truly philosophical guidance for
leaders in professions and in
the arts and crafts. Here is an
example:

" 'Advertise,' warned show-
man P. T. Barnum, 'or the
chances are that the sheriff
will ,do it for you.' To illus-
trade his thesis, he pointed
out that there are 26 moun-
tains in Colorado higher than
Pike's Peak—but how many
people can recall the name
of any one of them?"

The se c t i o n "Cloaks and
Suits" has many humorous stor-
ies that will add to the fun of
those who enjoy good stories.
It would be most difficult,
however, to select any one sec-
tion among the 100 categories
as being of special significance,
since the entire collection is
just one continuous storehouse
of entertainment. It is as such
that Cerf's "The Laugh's On
Me" is recommended to the
reader. —P. S.

Towering • seventy feet above the desert dunes, Israel's
first atomic reactor is nearing completion in the Sorek Valley,
on the Mediterranean coast near Ashdod. Designed for the
• scientific investigation of atoms for peaceful purposes, the
nuclear reactor typifies the scientific and economic develop-
ment. made possible with the aid of Israel Bond investments.
Half of the $600,000 cost of the new reactor is being met
through a U.S. Government grant, while the other half is being
supplied by Israeli sources, including the Government of
Israel, whose Development Budget is financed with Israel
Bond aid.

will not be permitted to leave
until it unloads its 400-ton
cargo of cement from Israel.
The charter- under which the
Astypalea sailed is expiring and
its owners want the ship to re-
turn to Greece. Israel has noti-
fied the owners that it will not
repay them the charges the
Egyptians demand for the un-
loading of the vessel. Israel
similarly refused to pay the un-
loading charges when the Egyp-
tians confiscated the Israel
cargo of the Danish freighter
Inge Toft.
