According to Mrs. Harry L.
Jackson, chairman of the youth
award committee, each League-
affiliated group is urged to sub-
mit the names of one outstand-
ing boy and girl for considera-
tion.

An open house in celebration of the 80th birthday of Mr.
Adolf Newstaetter will be held in his home, 17617 Stoepel,
from 2 to 5 p.m., this Sunday.
Miss. Bonnie Winston, daughter of Mr. and. Mrs. Maurice
Winston, of 18110 Muirland, has been chosen for the role of
"Mimi," the featured dancer in "Guys and Dolls," to be pre-
sented as the spring musical production of the University of
Illinois, on April 29. Miss Winston is a junior in the college
of liberal arts, and is a member of Delta Phi Epsilon social
sorority.
Miss Ruth Meckler, young Detroit pianist, will appear in
recital at the University of Michigan in the Angell Auditorium
at 4:30 p.m., on Tuesday. Her program will include works by
Bach, Beethoven, Debussy, Scriabin, Liszt and. Barber. The, con-
cert is open to the public.
Mrs. Mildred Lefkowitz and Hyman Lifshitz were Jewish
Community Center delegates to the Older Adult Conference of
the National Jewish Welfare Board, in St. Louis, March 29-31,
in conjunction with the 1960 biennial NJWB convention.
Miss Judy Rose, of 18253 Sorrento, a student at the Uni-
versity of Michigan, is spending her spring vacation in West
Hartford, Conn., as the house guest of Miss Barbara Shoor, a
classmate at U. of M.
A sweet sixteen party honoring Miss Sharon Marie Cooper
will be given on April 9, at Jeri's Restaurant by her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Albert A. Cooper.
Miss Janet (Dee) Statfeld, a former Detroiter Who now re-
sides at Jamaica, Long Island, N.Y., won the grand prize for hair
shaping in the recent International Hair Fashions Show held in
New York City. To win the award, a five-foot trophy, Miss Stat-
feld beat a field of 89 entrants from all over the world. She is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Statfeld, of 20463 Strathmoor.
