month illness. He was 54 years
old.
A native of New York and
graduate of Columbia Univer-
sity. he had been a staff mem-
ber of the Day-Morning Journal
in New York. He came to
Owosso in 1935.
Prominent in the Masonic or-
ganization, he was a member of
the Owosso School Board, was
active in Democratic Party ac-
tivities and served on the Gov-
ernor's tax study committee.
Mr. Bowman, who resided at
408 W. King, was a member of
Flint Temple Beth El, where
he taught Hebrew and Jewish
history for many years. He also
belonged to the Elks, Kiwanis,
YMCA and Shiawassee County
Realtors Association.
He leaves his wife, the former
Sylvia Lebowski; two daughters,
Sandra and Hedy; his mother,
Mrs. Sarah Sporn, of New York;
ana three sisters.

Anna Eserow Dies

Anna Eserow, a Detroiter for
50 years, died March 2 at the
age of 69. She had resided at
17411 Kentucky.
Born in Russia, she had been
active in numerous organiza-
tions since coming to Detroit.
These inclu'ded the Eastern
Ladies Society, Child Rescue
Society, Jewish Women's Euro-
pean Welfare Organization and
Gold - Star Parents.
She is survived by a son,
Jack; a daughter, Mrs. Maurice
Pastor; a brother, Edward
Bunin; and seven grandchil-
dren.

David B. Bowman, prominent

NORWALK, Conn., (JTA)- Owosso merchant and realtor
A pair of 22-year-old youths, ar- who was well-known in Detroit,

arrested again on an added
charge and are free on bail
awaiting a Superior Court trial.
They are Harold Fahy, Uni-
versity of Virginia graduate,
and a friend, William Arnold,
of ,Milford, Pa., who is staying
with Fahy during a visit here.
Arnold is a native of Ger-
many and has an American cit-
izenship application pending.
Both claimed the daubing was a
prank. The new arrest on bench
warrants contained a charge of
injury to a public building.
Rep. Samuel Googel, Connec-
ticut House Majority leader,
sa id that d amage
building now carries a maxi-
mum $5,000 fine and 20 years
in prison under a bill he intro-
duced which was passed at the
last Legislative session and
signed into law by Gov. Abra-
ham Ribicoff last June 11. The
previous penalties had been a
maximum $100 fine and six
months in jail.

Leader, A. Marx, Dies

Archibald A. Marx. a pioneer
in Bnai Brith activities for 69
years. died last week. He was
89.
Mr. Marx played a Ieading
role in founding such Bnai Brith
institutions as the Anti-Defama-
tion League. the Leo N. Levi
Memorial Hospital in Hot
Springs, Ark., the Home for the
Aged in Memphis, and the Mexi-
can Bureau which helped reset-
tle 7,000 Romanian Jews in
Latin America in 1926.
He was the son of Solomon
Marx, who helped organize Bnai
Brith District 7 region in 1873.
Archibald Marx served as presi-
dent of the District in 1900, and
as a national vice president of
Bnai Brith from 1915 to 1941.
