JERUSALEM --- "Better and

between the Israel government
and the Zionist movement are
essen ial for both. Mrs. Rose

Jewish Agency Executive in

conference Tuesday.

pern stated. "are not yet com-
plete. and the Zionist move-
ment remains the only body
and address on which Israel
may count, and to, which Israel
can apply for any service which
would be readily dealt with."
Declaring that "relations be-
tween Israel and the Zionist
movement are not as they
should be." Mrs. Halpern said.
"Whoever thinks. or claims.
that there is another address
which Israel can use--the term
'world Jewry' being an abstract
—is very mistaken. Though the
Zionist movement need not be
perpetuated. there is still great
work undone. like preparing a
large reserve of immigration
for Israel from outside Israel.
This is being done by educat-
ing the Jewish youth. a project
now under way."
Speaking of the possibilities
of Israeli immigration from
western countries. Mrs. Halpern
stated that, as far as America
and Britain are concerned. ''it
is essential to provide those
prospective immigrants with
conditions that would enable
them to remain in Israel, which
is what they desire. The main
obstacle is housing. and efforts
should he directed toward a
solution of this problem."

Editor, The Jewish News:
As one who is in constant and
close touch with the masses of
our people (Amcho). I am
pleased to inform you that your
courageous and militant position
on the Swastika smearing inci-
dents meets with general ap-
proval. Your bold outcry of
protest against the efforts to re-
lieve those responsible by find-
ing a scapegoat coupled with
your demand that the danger po-
tential of these acts be recog-
nized, reflects the feeling of the
: vast majority of our Jewish
community.
Again, yasher koach, hold
: fast to your position; courage
and realism is the demand of
the hours. •

Editor, The Jewish News:
Your stand on the swastika
plague is highly commendable.
Our immediate past demon-
strated the error of ignoring
danger signals of this type. The
situation should be faced with
deliberation, dignity and cour-
; age. Your policy to date is
characterized by these qualities.
Congratulations and many
thanks. Keep up the good work.
