River Chevrolet Co., from which
he retired a little over a year
ago, Rose conducted one of the
state's largest dealerships.
He was president of the
American Driver Training As-
sociation and he gave much
time and money to developing
driver training projects. He
had the cooperation of the New
York • University Center for
Safety Education and of the
large automobile plants, as well
as of community centers in the
development of his plans.
Rose's campaigns against un-
ethical auto deals won for him
the acclaim of the industry and
the cooperation of many of the
local dealers in setting policy
on grading mechanical skills,
price fixing, and other issues.
He was a past president of
the Chevrolet Dealers of Metro-
politan Detroit. In 1956 he was
named by Governor Williams
to the Citizens' Traffic Safety
Committee. He was the recip-
ient of a citation from St. Cyp-
rian's Episcopal Church.
Born in New York, in 1907,
he came to Detroit 42 years
ago. He was the head of the
Boy Scout movement at Temple
Beth El and participated in
many of the temple's activities.
Later he joined Congregation
Shaarey Zedek and was one of
its active members.
Surviving him are his wife,
Dora; a daughter, Elizabeth;
sons, Jonathan and Jeremy; sis-
ters, Mrs. Elaine Seltzer and
Mrs. Lillian Steiner; a brother,
Dan, and an aunt, Mrs. Dora
Blatnikoff.
His residence was at 1701
Balmoral Drive.
Funeral services were held
at Kaufman Chapel on N e w
Year's Day.
