Gen. Burns Accuses Arab Press of 'Distortion' of Jordan River Plan

"distortion" an Arab press re-
port that he had called "illegal"
Israel plans to divert Jordan
River water for Negev irriga-

Gyani, the new UNEF corn-

mander.
Gen. Laskov presented Gen.
Burns with a silver-covered
Bible on behalf of the Israel
Chief of State. Gen. Burns also
remarked that the border situa-
tion was quiet.

of Iraq spoke Monday for the
third time this month about his
hopes to "liberate Palestine"
and promised Palestinian Arabs
arms, men and money to help
them, according to press reports
from Baghdad.
He appealed to other Arab
countries to endorse his propo-
sal for a "Palestine Republic."
