their four granddaughters, in
Herzha, Mr. and Mrs. William
Hordes spoke with delight about
improvements they had seen
since they were last in Israel
three years ago.
"We were especially elated
over the success of the Supersol
Supermarket, the establishment
of which was masterminded by
Detroiters and Canadians, under
the leadership of our son Her-
bert, together with Alan Fein-
berg," Hordes said. "A bit of
American know-how has been
established in the supermarket
ingenuity and to Jewry's inter-
est in Israel."
Hordes said that during his
current visit he had met with
many Arabs and was enter-
tained with his family at an
Arab village. He said he
found the Arabs loyal to Is-
rael, but many of them are
•greatly disturbed over the
security measures which com-
pel Israel to keep close
watch over the situation to
prevent the creation of a Fifth
Column.
Everybody in Israel hopes for
a speedy solution of the Arab
problem, and there is full real-
ization that accord with the
Arabs will benefit the entire
Middle East. In Israel, Hordes
said, the Arabs are treated well,
their economic status has bet-
tered a thousand per cent and
both Israelis and Arabs hope
for the day when all security
precautions can be abandoned.
Mr. and Mrs. Hordes said that
the improvements they saw in
all- areas of Israel gave them
new impetus to work for Israeli
causes, and they said they were
especially compensated to see
the increasing accomplishments
of the Jewish National Fund.

Detroit area dentists were told
recently how the issue of
fluoridation is being used by
professional anti-Semites to in-
dicate a "Jewish plot to poison
Christian America."
Michael A. Gaines. assistant
regional director of the Anti-
Defamation League of Bnai
Brith, spoke to the Detroit area
council of Alpha Omega dental
fraternity on "Current Trends
and Issues in Organized Anti-
Semitism."
He observed that the popular
myth which characterizes the
medical and dental professions
as being "over-populated with
Jews" has led the professional
anti-Semite to assume that the
current controversy on fluorida-
tion "must be part of the Jewish
plot to rule the world."
One of the leading anti-
Semitic publications, American
Mercury, has devoted several
articles to the subject over the
past few years, Gaines said. One
was titled "Rat Poison Water."
"The most violently laughable
of the fluoridation articles,"
Gaines said, appeared in Conde
McGinley's Common Sense a
few years back.
In that magazine, the author
warned that a nationally-adver-
tised brand of toothpaste should
not be used by Christians since New Hotel Construction
