Set Composer Confab
for Stratford in 1960

The Canadian League of Com-
posers will play host to compos-
ers from 30 different countries
at the first International Com-
posers' Conference during the
Stratford, Ontario, Festival of
1960.
Conference director Louis
Applebaum, who is also musical
director of the Stratford Shake-
spearean Festiva 1, and the
League Council have designed
a plan whereby many of the
world's leading composers will
be asked to direct discussion
sessions, each dealing with a
different aspect of contempo-
rary musical creation.
To meet the expenses of this
ambitious project, the Canada
Council has allotted a grant of
$10,000 to the Canadian League
of Composers.
