Renault Company to end. operations in Israel reportedly because of Arab boycott threats brought up top level discussions in the Israel government Wednesday. • The French firm, owned.by the French government, has a partnership with the Kaiser-Fraser operations in Israel, and operates a plant in Haifa where assembly takes place of imported and locally-made parts of the Renault Dauphine and other small cars which are exported to Asia and Africa. It was also reported that a number of Jewish groups made several attempts to assassinate him and that since his disap- pearance many Jews have tried to locate him and take revenge for his orders which sent millions of Jews to the gas chambers and crematoria. Christian Century Demands Freedom of Suez for Israel Direct JTA Teletype Wire to The Jewish News WASHINGTON—The leading Protestant weekly, The Christian Century, this week editorially condemned the United Arab Republic's anti-Israel blockade of the Suez Canal and called on the United Nations to , take "firm and immediate steps." Attacking the Arab position expressed at the United Nations, the Christian Century said opposition to Israel shipping rights was a "dubious rallying point for Arab unity." Jordan's attitude was singled out for criticism and termed a result of Jordanian-UAR reconciliation. The Jorda n delegate --was charged with repeating "dusty slogans" and thus defying UN Secretary-General Dag Hammarskjold, Secretary of State Christian Herter, British Foreign Secretary Selwyn Lloyd and "other friends of the Arab people."
