JERUSALEM—The decision . of the . Renault Company to end. operations in
Israel reportedly because of Arab boycott threats brought up top level discussions
in the Israel government Wednesday.
• The French firm, owned.by the French government, has a partnership with the
Kaiser-Fraser operations in Israel, and operates a plant in Haifa where assembly
takes place of imported and locally-made parts of the Renault Dauphine and other
small cars which are exported to Asia and Africa.
Although officially the reason given for the decision to halt operations was
reported as "economic considerations," it was known that the Arab Boycott Com-
mittee had threatened complete boycott of all Renault imports unless operations in
Israel were stopped. •
Israel officials are reported viewing the decision with gravity, particularly
because the company. is state-owned.

TEL AVIV—The Haifa Center of Documentation
of Nazi Crimes reported Tuesday it had
mation indicating that Adolf Eichmann,
Eichann, key figlire
in
infor-
the Nazi slaughter of six million European Jews, has
been seen in the oil-rich Arab state of Kuwait.
The Haifa Center said it obtained this information
about Eichmann, who was Deputy of Heinrich Himmler
and who has been sought by West German authorities
since the Nazi regime was destroyed in 1945.
If the reports are confirmed. it was indicated that
West German authorities may demand Eichmann for
trial in West Germany as a war criminal. It was also
reported that a number of Jewish groups made several
attempts to assassinate him and that since his disap-
pearance many Jews have tried to locate him and take
revenge for his orders which sent millions of Jews to
the gas chambers and crematoria.

WASHINGTON—The leading Protestant weekly, The Christian Century, this
week editorially condemned the United Arab Republic's anti-Israel blockade of the
Suez Canal and called on the United Nations to , take "firm and immediate steps."
Attacking the Arab position expressed at the United Nations, the Christian
Century said opposition to Israel shipping rights was a "dubious rallying point for
Arab unity." Jordan's attitude was singled out for criticism and termed a result of
Jordanian-UAR reconciliation. The Jorda n delegate --was charged with repeating
"dusty slogans" and thus defying UN Secretary-General
Dag Hammarskjold, Secretary of State Christian Herter,
British Foreign Secretary Selwyn Lloyd and "other
friends of the Arab people."
The Christian Century said "such defiance wins
no friends and does nothing but harm to legitimate
