Betrothal Told
Sorry If You Got Too Many
"Even the novice in the realm
of cookery," writes Leah Leon-
ard, author of the popular
"What's Cooking" column in
The Jewish News, "should be
able to distinguish by the list
of ingredients when there is an
obvious error in the yield of a
recipe."
All of which makes the edi-
tors of The Jewish News a
little happier this week. As you
may have guessed, we goofed.
Several housewives who
phoned to say that a recent
recipe calling for 2 1/4 cups of
margarine and 71/2 cups of flour
(among other ingredients) was
a wee bit too much for a yield
of 10 small tarts, were certain-
ly right.
Mrs. Leonard assures us that
the yield in her recipe for
French Tarts (Franzipan)
should have been 100 small
tarts. -
So, to all who tried the re-
cipe expecting 10 tarts, you may
now join the editors at the
bottom of the cookery class.
Ben Goldberg, president of
the Business Men's Group,
stated this week that despite
its great growth in size and
scope in recent years, the City
of Hope still maintains its
"fantastic fiscal policy that no
patient who enters shall pay
his bill."
The institution has grown
from two tents on - a five-acre
site to a $10,000,000 hospital
and research center situated
