cant that its "far-flung activ-
ities in many nations" are men-
tioned in numerous instances

Humphrey stated.
Speaking as chairman of the
subcommittee, he credited ORT
with operating "the greatest
vocational training organiza-
tion in the world."
He said "ORT demonstrates
that every human being has
something to contribute to this
world, whether he or she be
refugee or in any other cir-

Individuals aided by the or-
ganization became "assets to
society, assets to themselves,
to their loved ones," he assert-
ed.
The convention adopted a
resolution expanding ORT ac-
tivities through a new program
for mass training.
The new program will assist
individuals who do. not qualify

UNITED NATIONS, (JTA)—
The International Oceano-
graphic Congress, which con-
cluded its session here at the
UN, heard Columbia University
professor, Dr. Rhodes W. Fair-
bridge, declare that the great
flood, mentioned in the Bible
and in other ancient records,
actually did inundate the globe
at the time recorded by the
Hebrews in Genesis.
In a comprehensive report
revealing a timetable of sea-
level changes during the ages,
Dr. Fairbridge revealed that,
according to scientific evidence
based on the carbon 14 test in
many parts of the world, a
flood such as the Bible de-
scribes did indeed take place.

The first permanent Canadian
Jewish farm settlement was es-
tablished in 1891 in the North-
west Territories, what is today
part of the Province of Sas-

the name Hirsch, after the
Baron Maurice de Hirsch who
was instrumental in its found-
