She was gowned in traditional white with a short veil and complementary shoes and accessories. The bride's only attendant was her sister-in-law, Mrs. Ann Colman. Mr. Ellias chose his brother, Howard, of Trenton, as best man, while s eating the guests were another brother, Philip, and Bill Colman, the bride's brother. The bride, a g - raduate -a Wayne State University is a teacher critic. Mr. Ellias is a graduate of the University of Michigan law school. Community Council Selects Committees Lawrence W. Crohn, presi- dent of the Jewish Community Council, announces the appoint- ment of chairmen of standing committees. Dr. Samuel Krohn has been re-appointed chairman of the internal relations committee. The community relations committee will be chaired this year by Louis Rosenzweig. Dr. Leonard Sidlow will re- main as chairman of the culture commission. The community relations committee will meet at 12:30 p.m, Oct. 7, at the Community Council office. Crohn stated that appoint- ment of other committee chair- men will be announced later. Compositions from I t a 1 y, Great Britain and Belgium will be played for the first time in Detroit when Marguerite Ko- zenn Chajes presents another of her concerts of Contempo- rary European Music at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Interna- tional Institute. The Belgium work by Marcel Poot will even mark its first American presentation. Jewish-Italian composer Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco will parti- cipate in the concert, playing the piano portion in his own quintet. - Maestro Castelnuovo-Tedesco, who recently won the award of the world renowned Scala di Milan with his newest opera, is presently guest performer at Michigan State University. Among those who have com- missioned the maestro to write works especially for them were the late Arturo Toscanini, Jas- cha Heifetz and in recent years the Hebrew Union College in Cincinnati. Other artists participating in the concert will be: Harvey Seigal, Emily Adams, Meyer Shapiro, Irvin Gillman, Edward Korkigian, Arno Mari- otti, Willard Darling, Norman Gifford, members of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and Law- rence LaGore, pianist. Public School Clothing Drive Set for Nov. 9-20 Because of the late opening of the schools and the United Foundation Torch Drive, the annual fall public schol clothing drive for needy pupils will be held Nov. 9 through 20. MISS LINDA OLEN Mr. and Mrs. Julius Olen, of Snowden Ave., announce the engagement of their daughter, Linda, to Robert Ruby, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Ruby, of Kenosha Ave., Oak Park. Miss Olen is a junior in the college of education at Wayne State University. Mr. Ruby is a sophomore at the University of Detroit dental school, where he is affiliated with Alpha Omega fraternity. A July wedding is being planned. • On the closing day of the convention, the 800 delegates re-elected Mrs. Michael Michlin, a past president of the Detroit Council, and past chairman of the East Central Region, to a second term on the national board. Mrs. Irving Posner com- pleted her tenure on the board. Another Detroit woman, Mrs. Irwin Berman, a past field worker for the national board, was elected chairman of the East Central Region, which in- sylvania, Ohio and New York. Mrs. Julius Fisher, of Club Two in Detroit, was one of the winners of a trip to Israel. She and her husband will leave soon for the Jewish state.
