United Hebrew Schools, Seminary College
Establish Judaic Studies Midrasha at Ann
Arbor with Abe Kasle's Generous Gift Aid

A Junior College of Judaic
Studies will be established in
Ann Arbor, it was announced
this week by Albert Elazar, su-
perintendent of the United He-
brew Schools of Detroit, and
Rabbi Seymour Fox, Associate
Dean of the Jewish Theological
Seminary College of Jewish
Studies.
The new school, to be called
Midrasha, will be administered
cooperatively by the Seminary
College and the United Hebrew
Schools, under the direction of
Elazar and Rabbi Fox.
It is intended that the
Midrasha will meet the needs
of students currently enrolled
in the University of Michigan
who are seeking an opportun-
ity to continue their Jewish

studies on the collegiate level.
The representative of the
Seminary College at the Ann
Arbor school will be Rabbi
Morris Adler, who has been ap-
pointed adjunct professor of
Aggadah in the Seminary Col-
lege Graduate School in New
York.

Found Guilty by Court

HAIFA, (JTA)—A Haifa
maistrate's court found Da-
vid Ben-Haroush, self-styled
leader of North African im-
migrants, guilty of organizing
the July disturbances in Haifa
and of using a -gun against a
policeman. He was sentenced
to two years in prison.
Ben-Haroush was sentenced
to 11 months for the shooting
and 13 months on the other
charge. Yaakov Maman, an
aide, was given a nine-month
sentence, and two other de-
fendants were given six-month
terms each.
Ben-Haroush announced that
he would appeal his conviction.
The court rejected his demand
for release on bail pending
the outcome of the planned
appeal. He heads a • North Af-
rica Immigrants ticket in the
November elections for the
Knesset. He will be released
if he is elected.

population and to be sponsored
by the Seminary College of Jew-
ish Studies of the Jewish Theo-
logical Seminary of American.
