Shapero, chairman of the board of Cunningham Drug Stores, honored his 50 years in retail pharmacy with a testimonial dinner Wednesday at the Plaza Hotel, New York. A sponsors committee, headed by Harry J. Loynd, president of Parke, Davis & Company, and Chas. B. Larsen, president of Cunningham's, has pledged to raise $500,000 of the esti- mated $1,000,000 needed for the Shapero Hall of Pharmacy, to be erected in his honor at Wayne State University. The testimonial dinner was being held in conjunction with the annual convention of the National Association of Chain Drug Stores, a group which Shapero helped to organize in 1933, and served as a member of the original Board of Direc- tors and was its second presi- dent.
