was held at the home of H. A.
and Evelyn Lewis with Mrs.
Sam Lipson presiding. Mrs.
Carolyn Davis was elected sec-
retary to serve for the next
two years.

Joe Mossok, former president
of this group and a delegate to
the annual congress, delivered
a talk on the progress being
made at the City of Hope hos-
pital in California.

More than 200 Detroiters participated in the France-Israel
Fashion Festival Dinner. Dance at Knollwood Country Club,
Sept. 10, and purchased nearly $100,000 worth of Israel Bonds.

ism, Sept. 26, when the school
opens its 85th academic year
in Cincinnati. Lask, a 1959
graduate of Wayne State Uni-
versity, lives at 13302 S. Nor-
folk.

LONDON — Four Jewish
cemeteries in Shanghai have
been transferred to the outskirts
of the city at the request of
the Chinese government, it was
reported here Wednesday„
The transfer was carried out
by the Shanghai Jewish com-
munity with the full coopera-
tion of the Chinese authorities.
It included the Tin G Lu ceme-
tery in which 834 refugees were
buried during World War II,
according to the Agudath Israel
executive here.
The Council of the Shanghai
Jewish Community, which main-
tains complete personal files of
some 20,000 European Jews who
fled to Shanghai during the war,
has issued 386 death certificates
for refugees who died in Shang-
hai during the war, thus mak-
ing possible payment of resti-
tution claims.
A Jewish community also ex-
ists in Harbin, with 153 persons,
and a small group lives in
Tienstsin, it was reported. Daily
services are held in Shanghai
and Tientsin and during Pass-
over matzoth are distributed
free to all Jewish needy. The
Agudath office also reported
that every facility for Jewish
religious education is available
to children in the two Jewish
communities.
