Windsor to Honor
Rabbi Stollinan' s
10th Anniversary

Windsor's Shaar Hashomayim
Synagogue will celebrate the
10th anniversary of the minis-
try of Rabbi Samuel Stollman
on Sunday, Sept. 20.
The . celebration will consist
of three events. At 6 p.m. there
will be a banquet in the audi-
torium of the synagogue. At 8
p.m. there will be a ceremony
in the main sanctuary.
Highlights will be a Yiddish
address by Rabbi Isaac Stoll-
man of Detroit, father of Rabbi
Samuel Stollman; an address
by Rabbi M. Kirshblum of New

York, former president of the
Mizrachi organization of Am-
erica, now a member of the
executive of the Jewish Agency;
and a candle lighting service
featuring selections by Cantor
Saul Schenkler blended with a
narration specially written for
the occasion.
The Sisterhood, the Men's
Club, the Mr. and Mrs. Club
and the Religious School of
Shaar Hashomayim will join
the congregation in paying
tribute to Rabbi Stollman.
No reservations or admission
fee will be required for the 8
p.m. program to which every-
one is invited. Immediately fol-
lowing this program a recep-
tion, open to all, will take place
in the auditorium.
Admission to the dinner is
by reservation only, which can
be made with Myer Dorn, 274
Giles Blvd. West, Windsor,
CL 6-2461.
It is expected that a large
number of Detroiters will be
present.

Beth Abraham School
Registration Sunday

The religious school of Cong.
Beth Abraham will register stu-
dents for the fall term on Sun-
day from 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon,
at the synagogue, Seven Mile
and Greenlawn. Classes will be-
gin Sept. 20.

New Chief Rabbi of
Ireland Installed

DUBLIN, (JTA),—Dr. Isaac
Cohen was installed as Chief
Rabbi of Ireland in ceremonies
at which he called on the
Soviet leaders to allow Russian
Jews to live under the same
conditions of national and
cultural independence afforded
to other Soviet minorities.
Dr. Israel Brodie, Chief
Rabbi of the British Common-
wealth, attended the installa-
tion as did the Lord Mayor of
Dublin, the Proyost of the
National University of Ireland
and members of the diplomatic
corps.

Ahavas Achim Offers

Adult Education Course

A number of adult and ado-
lescent education programs will
begin functioning this month
under the auspices of Cong.
Ahavas Achim.
The adult education commit-
tee of the Ahavas Achim Sister-
hood, under the chairmanship
of Mrs. David Grainer, an-
nounces that a women's insti-
tute will be conducted from
9:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Tues-
days, commencing Sept. 29th.
The courses to be offered at
this institute will be Hebrew for
beginners and Journey Through
the Prayer Book. Rabbi Milton
Arm will be instructor.

In conjunction with the wo-
men's institute, a series of five
lecture-luncheons is being ar-
ranged. The lectures covering
five great eras in Jewish his-
tory will be delivered by guest
rabbis and educators.
A regular weekly class in
Pirke Avot for men and women,
which will be led by Rabbi
Arm, will meet on Wednesday
evenings beginning Oct. 28.
A post Bar Mitzvah institute
with organized classes in He-
brew, Jewish skills and pro-
phetic movement in Israel will
be conducted on Tuesday eve-
nings for adolescents, to begin
Sept. 22.

Temple Israel Men
Set Opening Breakfast

The opening breakfast of the
Temple Israel Men's Club will
take place at 9:30 a.m., Sept.
20, in the temple's Leon Fram
Hall, it was announced this
week by Morton J. Bechek,
Men's Club president.
The traditional event will
feature a talk by Albert Sha-
piro, president of the Detroit
House of Correction, and enter-
tainment by Eddie Schick and
his accordion.
Several surprise features also
are being planned by the co-
chairmen, Bill Brown and Min-
nie Bershad. Also working on
the program are Sam Maza, vice-

A special social evening is planned by the Galician Society and
Ladies Auxiliary on Wednesday evening, September 16th at
8:00 P.M. in the Nusbaum Hall of Beth Abraham Synagogue,

Featured will be several musical selections by Cantor Ackerman
assisted by Mr. Israel Fuchs.
An interesting 20-minute movie will be followed by an address
by Mr. David I. Rosin of the Jewish Community Council, with
a question-and-answer period.
Refreshments and a Social Hour will complete the evening. All
member families and their friends are invited to attend. Mr.
Morris Goldsmith is chairman of the arrangements committee.
