He was the brother-in-law of Daniel Tickton and uncle of Jason Tickton, Wayne State University music professor. Dr. Perlman retired in June after more than 40 years on the University of Wisconsin faculty. He had taught at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Finance and Com- merce. A pioneer in the study of labor economics 50 years ago at the University of Wisconsin, he was a colleague of the late Dr. John R. Commons, with whom he organized the Commons- Perlman school for the training of economists. Born in Bialystok, Poland, Dr. Perlman was the son of a yarn spinner. Strongly influenced by -the labor movement, socialism and Zionism, he attended the University of Naples for two years before coming to the United States at the age of 20. His writings include 'many labor essays. Arthur Oppenheimer, N.Y. Executive, Dead NEW YORK—Arthur Oppen- heimer, associated in a senior executive capacity with the firm of Kuhn Loeb and Company, died Friday after a long illness. Oppenheimer was elected to the board of directors of the Jew- ish Theological Seminary of America in 1918, and served as treasurer of that body for more than 40 years, resigning last winter, but retaining his board membership. In 1957, the Seminary awarded him the degree of Doctor of • Laws.
