In the distance we heard the noise
of engines. At first we saw nothing.
but after a few minutes, two small
planes passed, flying over the field.
From their tails clouds of yellow
smoke came out.
"They are showing the public the
spraying of fields from the air. - the
guide who was accompanying our
group explained. We stood in the
gate of the Agricultural Exhibition.
Near the entrance to the exhibi-
tion we saw a large model of the
Jewish National Fund, showing all
stages in the development of hill
settlement. We continued on our
way and came to a model of the
Huleh region. We saw the big lake
before and after the drainage opera-
tions. Today hundreds of agricultur-
ists are working on the fertile soil
that was once marshes.
We left the Huleh model and came
to the fish ponds. In the ponds.
which had been specially prepared
for the exhibition, all varieties of
fish which are bred in this country
were swimming.
For about ten hours we wandered
around the area of the exhibition
and saw. among other things, the
best cow and best bull in the coun-

eggs, and even a cow which has a
window into its stomach. Yes, there
