Book Fair Events Include Contests

Mizes-Pichinan Rites
Planned for Sept. 6

Marrtages

A poster and literary contest
will again be a feature of the
eighth annual Jewish Book
Fair, sponsored by the Jewish
Community Center, 18100
Meyers.
Cash prizes and Jewish books
will be awarded. Posters may
be on any subject consistant
with the purposes of the Book
Fair, and essays should deal
with, or be inspired by. a book
of Jewish interest or by a Jew-
ish author.
The essay contest will be
conducted in three age groups:

elementary, under 10; interme-
diate, 11 to 14; and advanced,
15 to 18. The essay contest
will be run in the intermediate
and advanced age groups only.
Complete information about
the contest may be obtained
at schools and synagogues by
writing the Jewish Book Fair
office at the Center.

JNHAC Convention
to Dedicate Hospital

Dedication of a new research
institute and hospital will be
the main event of the four-day
convention of the non-sectarian
Jewish National Home for Asth-
matic Children at Denver. July
19-22. Eight local women will
attend.
The home. which provides
free. nationwide treatment to
children aged six to 14. is con-
cerned with the illness of in-
tractable asthma. The new re-
search institute and hospital
will be devoted entirely to basic
and clinical studies of asthma
and allergy.
Funds raised in Detroit by
the Northwest, Detroit League
and Junior League chapters will
be presented at the convention
to help further the Home's
medical and research programs.
Detroit representatives there
will be Mesdames Morris Burn-
stein. president. Northwest
chapter; David Cooper. presi-
dent. Detroit League: Samuel
Robins. president. Junior
League: and Harry Goldberg.
