Zukerman Parrots
Sen. Flanders' Warning

NEW YORK (AJP)—Under
the ominous title, "A Warning
to American Jews," William
Zukerman, the anti-Zionist pub-
lisher of Jewish Newsletter,
fully agrees with Sen. Ralph
E. Flanders' recent declara-
tion that 'anti-Semitism was
hovering in the wings and
"that there were grave poten-
tial dangers that 'it might
enter the center of the Ameri-
can state.' "
Zukerman was quoting from
Sen. Flanders' speech deliv-
ered at the annual meeting of
the New York Chapter of the
American Council of Judaism.
In this speech the Vermont
Senator said that it was very
disturbing that "many citizens
of Jewish faith seek a rela-
tionship with Israel which is
different from that which
other Americans have with Is-
rael and different from that
which Jewish citizens them-
selves want with other na-
tions."

Hillel Day School Sets Election at Annual Meeting

The second annual meeting
of the Hillel Day School of De-
troit will be held at 8:30 p.m.

berg Center, 19161 Schaefer.
Morris M. Jacobs, president
of the school, will preside over
the election of officers and will
present annual committee re-
ports along with Albert Posen,
treasurer; Wilbur S. Stein, ad-
ministration; Rabbi Jacob E.

Says Litvin Had 'Guts
to Pursue Principle

Editor, The Jewish News:
Regarding your Commentary
article on the Michigan Su-
preme Court's decision concern-
ing mixed seating in Mt. Clem-
ens, I would like to make some
comments.
It isn't a question of minority
vs. majority; nor of mixed seat-
ing; nor Litvin vs Cohen & Co.;
nor of Mt. Clemens Jewry alone.
The question involved is: The
pradtice of religion in an Ortho-
dox congregation vs Reform and
Conservative; the right to ad-
here to Orthodox Jewish tradi-
tions; the right of a board of
directors of a synagogue to de-
cide which traditional practice
they want to change.
If mixed seating is desirable,
then it isn't for the congrega-
tion to decide, but the Rabbini-
cal Council of America. For ex-
ample: Suppose at the next
meeting of a board of directors
of an Orthodox congregation,
the board majority decides no
"hats" are to be worn or that
services will be conducted in
English or Latin instead of He-
brew. Would you like that?
What Mr. B. Litvin did was
to defend a principle of Jew-
ish Orthodox tradition. He is
one man who had the "guts" to
uphold the traditions that the
rabbis of old proclaimed.

Mosley Too Mild for
British Fascist Party

LONDON (JTA) — The Na-
tional Labor Party considers
the fascist leader, Sir Oswald
Mosley, "a man of the past"
and has nothing to do with him
"because we do not regard his
racial views as sufficiently ex-
treme," John Bean, national
organizer of the National Labor
Party, said in an interview pub-
lished in the Daily Herald here.
The NLP is a small fascist
group.
Bean stated that his party
would bar not only Negro im-
migration into England but
"Jewish immigrants too." He
declared that his movement was
"not troubled by those who
compare our policies with cer-
tain aspects of fascism." Mos-
ley, he said, "was right before
the war, but is a man of the
past now."
