Harry Weinberger, past pres-
ident of Israel Lodge, has been
named to succeed Lou Weber
in the presidency of the Metro-
politan Detroit Bnai Brith
Council.
Serving with Weinberger, who
heads the 27-lodge local organi-
zation comprising 9,000 male
members of Bnai Brith, are the
following:

Robert Rudman, Morris Bleich-

Meyersohn, Avram Charlip, Ir-
win Meisel and Norman Gitler.
Weinberger was the recipient
of the Ivan S. Bloch Lodge
Award as the outstanding Bnai
Brith in Detroit in 1954, and
three years later he was given
the Charles Brusk Memorial
Award for being the outstand-
ing member in Israel Lodge.
Prior to assuming the presi-
dency, Weinberger was•a Coun-
cil vice-preSident for two years.
He was a founder of the Cove-
nant Credit Union, and has been
a vice-president since its incep-
tion.
A native Detroiter, Wein-
berger has been active in Bnai
'Brith circles here since his
membership in the Aleph Zadik
Aleph, BB youth organization.
With his wife, Josephine, and
three daughters, Georgann,
Marian and Nadine, Weinberger
resides at 20033 Robson.

New Young Adult
Group Plans Dance

A "Summer Prelude" dance
will be the first combined activ-
ity of the newly formed "Young
Adult Association," on Sunday,
June 21, in the grand ballroom
of the Sheraton-Cadillac Hotel.
Not a dated affair, the dance
is open to all young adults in
the Jewish community.
The Association, including
the young adult groups of Tem-
ples Beth El and Israel in con-
junction with the Young Peo-
ple's League of Congregation
Shaarey Zedek, was formed "to
promote the exchange of social,
cultural and spiritual ideas
among the three organizations."
According to Hank Winkel-
man, of the Association steer-
ing committee, "This co-opera-
tive effort on the part of the
three groups is a 'first' in De-
troit."
Other members of the steer-
ing committee are Sandra Lyn-
ess, Gerald Manko, Temple Beth
El; Judy Oppenheim, Jan Green,
Lou Grossman. Temple Israel;
Gloria Smith, Jerry Adler and
Leonard M. Kurland, Congrega-
tion Shaarey Zedek.

Alan Gale, known as "Miami's
favorite son," will make his
first public appearance in De-
troit, when he comes to Ford
Auditorium with an all-star re-
vue this weekend.
Two performances have been
scheduled at 8:30 p.m., Satur-
day and Sunday.
Gale who has his own night
club in Miami, is a popular com-
edian who has appeared widely
at night clubs throughout the
country and on network televi-
sion shows.
Ilk appearance here is spon-
sored by Lenn Borovoy. Satur-
day night's performance will
be a benefit for Cong. Bnai Da-
vid. which has taken over the
entire auditorium.
Tickets for Saturday's per-
formance are available by call-
