Bnai Moshe Honors Adolph Deutsch
at Dedication of Synagogue Chapel
Prominent leaders, including
heads of many organizations
and members of the judiciary,
joined on Sunday evening in
making the dedication and tes-
timonial dinner of Congrega-
tion Bnai Moshe, at the Shera-
ton-Cadillac Hotel, an outstand-
ing community event.
The dinner concluded a full
day's affairs marking the dedi-
cation and consecration of the
first completed part of the new
Bnai Moshe building in Oak
Park. It was given as a testi-
monial to Adolph Deutsch, in
whose name the new synagogue
chapel has been dedicated.
Affiliated organizations of
Bnai Moshe, Rabbi Moses
Lehrman, Cantor Louis Klein
and children of the congrega-
tional school participated in
the morning's dedicatory cere-
mony naming the Adolph
Deutsch Chapel.
The banquet was presided
over by Theodore M. Curtis as
toastmaster after preliminary
greetings by the chairman,
Eugene Weiss, and the singing
of the national anthem.

The seventh graduation class
of Beth Aaron Religious School
will number 41 at ceremonies
at 10 a.m., Sunday, at the syna-
gogue.
The cantata "What's in a
Number," written by Rabbi Ben-
jamin Gorrelick and directed by
Gertrude Strass, will be pre-
sented. Dr. Marvin Last, chair-
man of the educational com-
mittee, will present diplomas.
Synagogue president William
Liberson will also participate

given out by Sisterhood presi-
dent Mrs. Albert Kaplan and
school director Bernard Panush.
Rabbi Gorrelick will deliver the
sermon.

The graduates have completed
eight years in the religious
school, three years of Hebrew
and continued attendance at
junior Saturday services. All
will continue for two more years
in preparation for confirmation.
The graduates were presented
with Jewish National Fund cer-
tificates in honor of their ac-
complishment.
Registration for next year's
classes are now being accepted
from 10 to 12 a.m., Sunday,
Tuesday and Thursday, at the
office. Early enrollment is
urged to assure proper place-
ment.

Mizrachi to Fete
Zvi Tomkiewicz
Mizrachi, Hapoel Hamizrachi
will honor Zvi Tomkiewicz, ex-
ecutive director of the organi-
zation, at a reception at 8 p.m.,
June 16, at Cong. Beth Abra-
ham.
Rabbi Chaim Meisels, t h e
"Sarvasher Rebbe," of Brook-
lyn, N. Y., will be feted at a
M'lave Malke at. 9 p.m., Satur-
day, at Cong. Agudath Israel,
Dexter and Cortland.
The M'lave Malke is being
tendered Rabbi Meisels, a for-
mer Detroiter, in honor of the
forthcoming marriage of his
youngest son, Rabbi Herman
Meisels.
David J. Cohen will be toast-
master and greetings will be
extended by community rabbis
and leaders. Friends and follow-
ers of the Rabbi are invited to
attend. Rabbi Meisels will be
staying at the home of Nathan

A set of resolutions were
presented to Adolph Deutsch
by Harry J. Gunsberg, pres-
ident of the congregation.
Deutsch's son, Alfred L., res-
ponded for his father.
Gunsberg also presented a set
of resolutions to Ben F. Gold-
man, a past president of the
synagogue, in honor of his 70th
birthday.
Rabbi Irving Lehrman, of
Miami Beach, brother of Bnai
Moshe's spiritual leader, Rabbi
Moses Lehrman, was the eve-
ning's guest speaker. He de-
clared that "nothing has prior-
ity over Torah. That's why we
are here. What you are doing
is going to serve the entire Jew-
ish people throughout the
world."
Describing his recent tour of
many lands, together with four
Christian clergymen, all of
whom formed a touring good

Rabbi Lehrman said that he
saw "the eclipse of Judaism" in
several of the lands. He said
he saw nothing of hope in any
of the countries, and he indicat-
ed that the major hope for
Jewry lies in this land of free-
dom.

Tomkiewicz has served the
cause of Israel for 10 years in
the organization. The Detroit
Bar-Ilan Committee will join in
the salute to Tomkiewicz.

the gathering, admonishing
them to continue their efforts
in behalf of the spiritual
renaissance of Judaism.
