A late Friday evening service at Cong. Ahavas Achim has been selected to mark the syna- gogue's first ceremony of Bas Mitzvah. The Bas Mitzvah celebrant is Gloria Marli Burns, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard G. Burns, of Hubbell Ave. The service will take place at 8:30 p.m.. May 29, at the synagogue, 19190 Schaefer. Gloria began her religious studies at the age of three, at Adath Israel Synagogue, Wood- bridge, N.J., continuing them at Ahavas Achim when the fam- ily moved to Detroit. In addition to classes at the Ahavas Achim Religious School, Gloria has studied at the Shaarey Zedek Hebrew School for the past four years. Her Bas Mitzvah is the. first of three events in the coming weeks., She will graduate from Hebrew school on June 17, and the fol- lowing day, she will be vale- dictorian of her religious school graduating class. Rabbi Milton Arm will con- duct the services, at which Gloria will chant the Haftorah. An oneg shabbat in honor of the Bas Mitzvah will follow in the synagogue social hall.
