AZA Car Wash to Aid Service Fund

The second annual service
fund car wash held by Detroit
area members of Alpeh Zadik
Aleph (AZA) will take place
Sunday, at six local gas sta-
tions.
Arrangements have been
made with Don Hough's Service,
Schaefer and James Couzens;
Jerry Nelson's Service, Wyo-
ming and Curtis; Jim and Har-
vey's S e r v i c e, Schaefer and
Clarita; Moe Sternberg's Serv-
ice, Nine Mile and Scotia, Oak
Park; Ricky's Super Service.
Santa Clara and McNichols; and
Sam's Service, 7 Mile and Coyle.
Over 350 AZA members will
wash cars, donating all of the

proceeds to the International
AZA Service Fund.
The fund provides scholar-
ships for youth to visit in Is-
rael, provides money for
UNICEF (United Nations Inter-
national Children's Emergency
Fund), is used to renovate the
chapel at Camp Bnai Brith and
provide scholarships for youth
leadership training.
Cars will be washed at all
stations, from 9 a.m. to 4:30
p.m., at $1 per car, according
to Mickey Heideman, of Bran-
deis AZA, chairman of the pro-
gram. For information, call

Center Softball Leagues
Still Being Formed

More than 500 juniors, teens
and adults are now playing
softball in leagues organized by
the Jewish Community Center
on Sunday mornings and after-
noons.
There are 200 boys playing
in the junior program (9- to 12-
year-olds) on Sunday afternoons
at MacDowell School; 20 clubs
in the teen division, which plays
at Mumford High School (B
League) and Luger Field (A
League); and many adults, who
are still forming teams at the
Schulze School on Sunday morn-
ings.

Michigan Jewish War Veter-
erans and Bnai Brith are co-
sponsoring a blood drive from
6 to 12 p.m.„ on May 25, at
Clinton School in Oak Park and
on May 26, at Adas Shalom
Synagogue, 7045 Curtis. Blood
donations can be credited either
to individual JWV posts or to
Bnai Brith Lodges.
