Ruth Meckler Wins
Casals Fellowship

Ruth Meckler, young Detroit
pianist, has been awarded a
fellowship to attend the Casals
music fesival in Puerto Rico.
Only eight musicians from the
United States and Latin Amer-
ica were so honored, the Pan
American Union noted in an-
nouncing the awards in Wash-
ington.
Miss Meckler will graduate
this spring from the Curtis In-
stitute of Music in Philadelphia
where she has been a pupil of
Rudolf Serkin for the past
four years.
Locally she is scheduled to
participate in the Dearborn,
Grosse Pointe, and Cranbrook
Gardens summer music festi-
vals being held during June,
July and August.

A library dedicated to the
memory of Joan Ritter-Traurig
and Linda Ruth Ritter will be
installed in the Workmen's
Circle Educational Center, at
1:30 p.m. Sunday.
The library contains many
Yiddish and English Judaica as
well as art work and was do-
nated by the grandparents, Mr.
and Mrs. Louis Rosenberg, in
memory of their two grand-
children.
Participating in the dedica-
tion ceremony are Wolf Snyder,
chairman of United Jewish High
School; Samuel Sigal, director
of Mittelshul; Moshe Haar, di-
rector of Sholem Aleichem In-
stitute; Movsas Goldoftas, di=
rector of United Jewish Folk
School; and Saul Maltz, director
of Workmen's Circle Schools.
All participants were teachers
of both children.

Minister David Ben-Gurion
wants Jewish mothers outside
Israel to allow their children
