THE 'DETROIT JEWISH NEWS — Friday, April 24, 1959-24 Writes Letter to Queen • `Tulip of Holland' Stirs Memory of a Nazi Prisoner By FRANK SIMONS There are many Nachman Tevlos scattered throughout the world today. They are the survivors of German brutality, the men, women and children who died a thousand deaths to remain living in the _Nazi concentration camps of World War II. Hardly a day passes for them when they are not — in some way or another—reminded of the years spent in filthy bar- rack s, living only in antici- pation of the ultimate c a 11 to death. And when that call did not come and when they were rescued at the end of World War II, they wondered Tevlo that they were still alive and they prayed for word of their families and friends. For some, word of certain death came swiftly. Others were tortured until they were either re-united or until they learned that inevitable death had come to their loved ones. Then, there are still others— like Nachman Tevlo—who still are left to wonder about and pray for their fellow Jews, who, after 15 years, remain missing. These are the people who are neither living nor dead. Mr. Tevlo, a Detroiter now, has been plagued by the mem- ory of a beautiful, young girl, who came from the Netherlands to marry a pre-medical student from Prague — the son of a LA LAIN E BEAUTY SALON Under the Personal Supervision of Freda Goldman Professionally Trained W. Chaim Laskov, has visited here to plan for a joint Turco-Israeli attack against the United Arab Republic, was denied by the Foreign Ministry here. The . canard had been trans- mitted by Tass, official USSR news agency, and was denied as "crude fiction" in a state- ment by the Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman in Jerusa- lem. The Turkish denial attrib- utes the false report to Red Fleet, organ of the USSR Navy. Red Fleet stated that Gen. Laskov was in Turkey last month and had talks with Turkish officials who pledged that this country would sup- port Israel in an attack against the United Arab Republic. The Foreign Ministry's state- ment declared that the Red Fleet report was "without foun- dation," and warned that the false report was issued with the aim of "deteriorating rela- tions between Turkey and the brotherly Arab countries."
