Five local Bnai Brith women
leaders participated this week
in a Conference on Youth, held
by the national organization in
Washington, D.C.
Theme of the conference,
which was held Sunday to Tues-
day as part of a program of
special activities marking Bnai
Brith Women's golden anniver-
sary year, was "Building Our
Youth for the Future—Building
Our Future with Our Youth."
The Detroiters who attended
are Mesdames Robert A. Cog-
gan, president of BB Women's
District No. 6; Charles Solovich,
a national vice-president; Leon-
ard _Sims, national membership
chairman; Gerald Gorman and
Morris Tack.
The conference was part of
the biennial meeting of Bnai
Brith Women, which continued
through a luncheon Thursday,
when Gen. Alfred M.. Gruen-
ther, president of the American
Red Cross, was guest speaker.
He paid tribute to the organi-
zation's 50 years of service, em-
phasizing its role in mass blood
donations.
Mrs. Sadie Meyer Cohn, first
chapter president of BB Wom-
en, • attended the conference
from San Francisco. She is still
active in the original Bnai Brith
Chapter, founded March 9. 1909.

Readying First Play in Center Theater Repertoire

Center Theater, adult play-
producing division of the Jew-
ish Center's drama department,
is preparing its initial produc-
tion, "On Stage, American Jew,"
to be presented as part of the
week-long dedication ceremo-
nies of the Center's new main
building, 18100 Meyers Road at
Curtis, in May.
The play will be performed
in Center's new theater, which
features a large, modern stage,
slant floor and a seating ca
pacity of 500.
