The tenth yahrzeit of Rabbi Stephen S. Wise, moving spirit of the American Jewish Con- gress, will be marked across the country on April 19 with serv- ices and commemorative events recalling the man and his spiri- tual legacy. "The Message of Is- rael," over the nationwide ra- d i o network of the Ameri- can Broadcast- ing Company, will devote its April 19 broadcast (11:05 p. m., WXYZ E.S.T.) to a memorial tribute to Dr. Wise by Rabbi Louis I. New- man of New York. The same day, at Con- gress House in Rabbi Wise New York, the AJ Congress national executive committee will officially commemorate Dr. Wise's yahrzeit. Judge Simon E. Sobeloff of the U. S. Circuit Court of Appeals, a fellow-war- rior with Dr. Wise in AJ Con- gress, will be the principal Speaker. Around the country AJ Con- gress chapters have scheduled meetings based on Dr.. Wise's life and the tasks he undertook. Jewish Groups Fight Egyptian Visa Policy LONDON (JTA)—Jewish or- ganizations here and in Paris are reportedly organizing ac- tions to get their respective gov- ernments to aid in obtaining visas for British or French Jew- ish refugees from Egypt, whose properties have been seques- trated by the Cairo government. These Jews want to go to Egypt to press their claims for the properties taken over by Egypt after the Suez campaign of 1956. Jewish organizations here have acquired a secret Egyptian document, instructing UAR con- suls to issue visas only to ap- plicants who can prove through a baptismal certificate that they are Christians. Jewish refugees from Egypt, both here and in France, will insist that the for- eign ministries in London and in Paris see to it that Jewish - applicants for Egyptian visas receive equal treatment with that given non-Jews.
