The 10,000th Bnai Brith blood
donor was unveiled Tuesday
night in the person of David
Cohen, of 18700 Tracey, a mem-
ber of the Brandeis Lodge.
The magic number turned up
late in the evening, as Bnai
Brith members gave over 300
pints of blood during the two-
day rally, held Monday night at
Oak Park's Clinton School and
Tuesday night, at Adas Shalom
Synagogue.
Cohen will receive a three-
day trip to Las Vegas, Nev.,
from the management of the
Riviera Hotel, which also is
giving him $75 toward his travel
expenses.
Two other donors—numbers
9,999 and 10,001 — were con-
soled at their near misses with
trips to resorts in the East.
Alex Sherr, of 4210 Cortland,
also a member of Brandeis
Lodge, by being the 9,999th
donor, won a trip to the Con-
cord Hotel in New York. Yale
Gealer, of 22121 Condon, Oak
Park, was the recipient of a
trip to Grossinger's as the
10,001st donor.

Bank of the Commonwealth
is constructing a new auto bank
at the corner of Fort and
Wayne. The project will cost
over $600,000. The site, 83 feet
along Fort and 130 feet on
Wayne is large enough for com-
plete auto banking facilities and
a parking area for main office
customers.
The main building will be a
single story high, with three
additional detached drive-in is-
lands under a common roof.
There will be one drive-up win-
dow in the main building, in
addition to the islands, as well
as three walk-up windows.
The main building and each
of the islands will have bullet
proof glass and steel plate to
supplement other safety pre-
cautions.
The auto bank will provide
all banking services except safe
deposit boxes, according to
president Howard P. Parshall.
The bank will be open from 8
a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday
through Friday.
A below ground parking area
will cover the entire site, and
provide covered parking for ap-
proximately 35 to 40 cars. This
is intended primarily for the
use of the Bank of the Common-
wealth customers who wish to
visit departments of Bank of
the Commonwealth in the main
office a block and a half away.
An attendant will park cus-
tomers' cars and will also super-
vise traffic to the drive-up lanes.
