Young Marrieds Join
in 'Continental Capers'
Young Marrieds Clubs from
synagoguges in the Detroit area
are combining their efforts for
the fourth annual inter-congre-
gational dance, to be held April
11, at Temple Israel.
Called "Continental Capers,"
the dance features the music of
Sammy Woolf and his orches-
tra, and there will be continu-
ous refreshments served
throughout the evening.
Tickets will be sold on a
"first come, first serve" basis,
with no ticket sales made at
the door.

A group of members from
ANNE FRANK CHAPTER,
Bnai Brith Girls are currently
working with nurses and admin-
istrators of the Farmington staff
of the Lapeer State Home and
Training School to assist re-
tarded children. Presently, the
girls play simple games with
the children, dress them after
naps and serve and feed them
dinner on Friday afternoons,
but eventually they hope to
help in the school room and
teach the children to feed and
dress. themselves and develop
personal habits. Participating in
this volunteer work are Linda
Bernstein, Barbara Burstein, Ju-
lie Koretz, Susan Levitt, Mary
Lewin, Nina Marcus, Arlene
Page, Alice Ray, Phyllis Stepak
and Linda Taylor.

Farband Camp, oldest Jewish
camp in the state, will cele-
brate its 30th anniversary with
a m'laveh malkeh on Saturday
night, at the Hayim Greenberg
Center, 19161 Schaefer. The
camp's newly-elected officers
will be installed by Morris L.
Schaver at ceremonies con-
ducted there.
The social committee plan-
ning the affair is headed by
Sophie Sislin, assisted by
Bertha Rosenthal, Ethel Was-
ser, Naomi Abramson, Sarah
Levine and Dora Kumove. Bella
Goldberg will conduct commu-
nity singing and refreshments
will be served. The event is
open to the public.
Registration for the Camp's
upcoming season is now being

a non-profit basis by Farband.
On Tuesday afternoon, 75
pupils of the United Jewish
Folk Schools toured the build-
ing of The Jewish News, at
17100 W. 7 Mile, and learned
at first hand the operation of
a Jewish newspaper.
Arriving in school buses in
two sections, the visiting pupils
were told haw news is gath-
ered, how copy is prepared
and how a newspaper finally
is organized for printing and
distribution.
The pupils witnessed the ar-
rival of the latest news from
Washington, London, New
York, Istanbul and Jerusalem,
over the direct teletype and
cable system operated by The
MARGARET FRIEDLANDER Jewish News with the Jewish
Telegraphic Agency.

Ten discussion sessions on
"Jewish Issues in World Litera-
ture" will be conducted by Dr.
Emanuel Applebaum as part of
the Jewish Community Center's
"Ladies Day Out" program.
Sessions will meet from 1 to
3 p.m. Tuesdays, starting April
7, in the Center's new building,
18100 Meyers. Jewish topics as
reflected in contemporary
literature will be discussed.
Subjects are "The Jew in
Literature," "Inter-Marriage —
Loss or Gain?" "Religion and
Psychiatry," "Neighborhood —
Living or Leaving," "Will Col-
lege Be Open To Your Child?"
"Can it Happen Here?" "Juda-
ism in the Public School s,"
"Grandparents — Accepted or
Rejected," "Judaism and Hel-
lenism" and "Roads to Jeru-
salem."
"Ladies Day Out" program
members may also use the Cen-
ter's nursery service, leaving
their 3- to 5-year-olds under
supervised care, while attending
the program.
