Mo'os Hitim Time

Editor, The Jewish News:
Perhaps many of us wonder
at this time what is so import-
ant about Mo'os Hitim. To this
the answers are manifold, but it
all goes back to the ancient
Jewish ideal of freedom, dem-
ocracy and equality, upon which
our modern society is based.
- When we here in this won-
derful land of abundance cele-
brate Passover, we must keep
in mind that other Jews else-
where can not celebrate on an
empty stomach. It is 'this con-
cern for the welfare and well-
being of others that perhaps
provides a partial answer to
Pasternak's wonder at why the
Jews do not disappear.
To help preserve ourselves
and our ideals, it is imperative
that we not forsake our breth-
ren in Israel, so that they may
join with us and all Jews in
the celebration of this festival
of freedom.
