A new sonata composed by
Julius Chajes, music director
of the Jewish Community Cen-
ter, has just been published by
the Transcontinental Music
Publishers of New York.
The work, Sonata in D Minor
for piano, is dedicated to Mr.
and Mrs. Harvey White, of
Windsor, Ont. Its world pre-
miere will take place this sum-
mer in Brussels, Belgium, and
will be performed by Chajes.
Other performances a r e
scheduled in Paris, Laussaane,
Lugano and other European
cities. Its Detroit debut will
take place next season in a
recital by prominent Detroit
pianist Mischa Kottler.

SILVERSTEIN

In a double-ring ceremony on
March 8, before a canopy of
pink and white carnations,
Elaine Isabell Madorsky, daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Max Mad-
orsky, former Detroiters, now
of 1115 Bel Aire, Daytona
Beach, Fla. and granddaughter
of Mr .and Mrs. William Kor-
ash, was married to Dr. Ber-
nard S. Silverstein, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Max Silverstein, of
New York City.
The wedding was solemnized
by Rabbi Donald D. Crain, of
Temple Israel, Daytona Beach,
and Rabbi Isaiah Barnett, of
New York, in the gardens of
the temple.
The bride wore a floor-
length gown of imported silk
organza with self-embroidery
and fashioned with a pleated
godet as a train, short sleeves
and a fitted bodice:
She wore short white kid
gloves, and her shoulder-length
veil of illusion net fell from a
tiara of seed pearls. Around
her neck she wore a single
strand of pearls. She carried
her confirmation prayerbook
with white orchids and white
streamers.
Mrs. Gloria Lazarus, sister
of the bridegroom, from Wan-
taugh, N.Y., was matron of
honor, and bridesmaids were
Sandra Madorsky, sister of the
bride, and Doris Wacker, of•
Chicago. Another sister, Mar-
sha Madorsky, =was junior
bridesmaid.
Lester Lazarus was his
brother-in-law's best man, and
ushers were Martin Madorsky,
brother of the bride, and Eu-
gene Korash, her uncle.
A dinner and reception fol-
lowed the ceremony at the
Daytona Plaza Hotel, after
which the newlyweds left for
a honeymoon abroad. They will
visit in Spain, Italy, France and
England, arriving in Israel at
Passover time. There, they will
be the guests of Dr. and Mrs.
Meyer Weisgal, of the Weiz-
mann Institute in Rehovot.
They will be at home after May
1, in Ann Arbor, where Dr.
Silverstein is on the staff of
University Hospital.
Detroiters who attended the
