Mrs. Kellerman, 85, was the daughter of Morris Gunsberg, after whom Cong. Bnai Moshe is named. She was a member of the synagogue, a charter mem- ber of the Hebrew Ladies Aid Society and an active worker for the Women's Auxiliary of the Home for Aged. Surviving are a son, William Kellerman; a daughter, Mrs. Sol Grand; a brother, Joseph Guns- berg; a sister, Mrs. Theresa Feder; and five grandchildren. Mrs. Evelyn Wise, 52, of 17620 Appoline, died Monday at Harper Hospital, after a long illness. Active in several local women's groups, Mrs. Wise was well known in musical circles and was among the early lead- ers in the Society of Contribu- tors to the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. MAINZ (JTA)-Dr. Emil Schmitz, a physician who worked at his profession in the infamous Sachsenhausen concentration camp during World War II, was impris- oned here on charges of murder. The physician, who has not praticed of late, was arrested at his home in Ingelheeim. His role in the murder of Sachsen- hausen victims, Jews and non- Jews, was revealed recently during tthe trials of Wilhelm Schubert and Gustave Sorge, SS guards at the camp, who were convicted of many mur- ders and sentenced to life im- prisonment. He was 64 years old. Born in the Ukraine, he came to Palestine in 1920, and settled in Jerusalem. - where he worked for the Jewish Telegraphic Agency for many years. He was also a member of the editorial staff of "Maariv," Israel's after- noon paper which enjoys the largest circulation in the coun- try, and held his post there until the last day of his life. He was a close friend of President Itzhak Ben Zvi and of practically every member of the Israel Cabinet. Himself avoiding affiliation with any political party, he was taken into confidence by leaders of every existing party in Israel. For many years he was presi- dent of the Journalists Associa- tion in Jerusalem, and execu- tive member of the National PreSs Association.
