Farber-Mondry Rites
Plannedfor June

The second in the series of
concerts being sponsored by
the Detroit Friends of Music
will take place at 8:30 p.m.,
Monday, in the Morris L. Scha-
ver auditorium, 19161 Schaefer.
Three local artists will be
featured. They are Paul Olef-
sky, cellist; Gordon Staples,
violinist, and .Alex Suczek, a
troubador who will be heard
in a program of Spanish, Irish,
Greek and Hebrew songs.
Olefsky and Staples will ap-
pear in an unaccompanied duo
recital, which will include Mo-
zart's Duet No. 2 K424, a first
Detroit performance; Ernest
Toch's Divertimento, and Zol-
tan Kodaly's Duo, opus 7.

Reshevsky Here Sunday
for Chess Exhibition

Four - time U. S. champion
Samuel Reshevsky will be fea-
tured in a simultaneous chess
exhibition at 2:30 p.m., Sunday,
at the D. W. Simons Jewish Cen-
ter, 4000 Tuxedo.
Reshevsky will play 35 games
at one time, against all corners.
Challengers may register by
calling Raphael Rogers, tourna-
ment director, UN. 3-1045.

Simons Branch Chess Club.

City Plan Commissioner

Samuel Hechtman, president
of Pratical Home Builders, has
been named by Mayor Louis C.
Miriani to the City Plan Com-
mission. He succeeds Edmund
Kuhlman.

BEEF BOURGUIGNON

3 pounds shoulder steak'

2 cups quartered

in 1-inch cubes

mushroom caps

2 cups red Burgundy wine

1/4 cup chopped shallots

V2 cup Mar Pary Oleo

1 tablespoon flour

Melt 6 tablespoons Oleo in a deep casserole. Add steak cube's,
cover and braise in a hot oven (400°) for 20 minutes. Meanwhile
saute mushroom caps and shallots in remaining 2 tablespoons Oleo.
Stir in flour. Add Burgundy and mix well. Pour over steak, cover
and return to oven for 30 minutes. Serves 6.

death of, Hayim Nachman Bia-
lik, the celebrated Hebrew poet,

gram of the Association of He-
