Jeanne Walker Weds
Dr. Selvin Sonken

MRS. SELVIN SONKEN

In a double-ring ceremony
performed by Rabbi M. Robert
Syme at the Rainbow Terrace,
Jeanne Evelyn Walker, daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph
Walker, of Detroit, was united
in marriage to Dr. Selvin Son-
ken, son of Mr. and Mrs. Max
Sonken, of Brooklyn, N.Y.
The bride's ballerina length
gown was of white peau de
soie, and chantilly lace. A peau
de sole bow secured her fin-
gertip veil of white tulle. She
carried two white orchids and
stephanotis on her Bible.
Mrs. Harvey Caren of New
York was the bride's matron
of honor, and Diane Wald, Jo-
hanna Walker, and Mrs. James
A. Walker served as brides-
maids.
Mr. and Mrs. David Volko-
vich, the bride's grandparents I
were in the bridal procession.
Dr. Ira Phillips of New York
was best man, and the groom's
brothers-in-law, Harvey Caren
of New York, and James A.
Walker, and Richard Walker
of Detroit, were his ushers.
The newlyweds will reside at
560 Parkview Dr., after honey-1
mooning in Mexico City and
Aculpulco.

Install Nathan Korby
as Turover President

Nathan Korby, president of
the Turover Aid Society, and
other newly - elected officers
were installed recently. Taking
office with Korby were:
Julius Honeyman and Harry
M. Mandell, vice - presidents;
Louis Rabinowitz and Max Ep-
stein, secretaries; William Kel-
ler, treasurer; Alex Lipson and
Sophie Pfeiffer. hospitalers;
Alex Bear, sgt.-at-arms; Max

trustees; Jacob Zeldes, gabai
rishon; Meyer Korby, gabai
shaini; Rosalyn Zeldes, secre-
tary; Sam. Dreyfus, funeral di-

urer.
Isidor Sosnick was chairman
of the installation committee,
and was assisted by Ben Grant,
Nathan Samet.- Max Schneider
and Max Roberts.

Sholem Aleichem Units
Slate Cultural Events

Two educational courses. have
been arranged by the PTO of
the Sholem, Aleichem Schools.
Taught by Moishe Haar, princi-
pal, the courses are Yiddish
for beginners, at 8:30 p.m.,
each Wednesday, and readings
in Jewish literature, alternate
Wednesdays, at 9:30 p.m.
Other events planned at the
Institute, 19350 Greenfield, in-
clude a series of lectures, spon-
sored by Chapter I, on "The
Jewish Literature of the Tal-
mudic Period," with Chaim Ben
Dor as lecturer. The next lec-
ture will be held at 9 p.m., Mon-
day, and alternate Mondays
thereafter.
A dessert luncheon of the
Women's Division will take
place at 12:30 p.m., Feb. 7, when
Moishe Haar will discuss the
play, "The Golem Dreams," by
H. Leivick.

Mr. and Mrs. Barney Forman and daughters, Sharon, Gail
and Marilyn Ilene, of Stansbury Ave., have returned from a
three-week stay in New York City.
Mr. and Mrs. Moe Saslove, of 3460 Sherbourne, will be hosts
at a cocktail party and reception in their home at 8:30 p.m.,
Feb. 8, in honor of Meir Padan, Israel Vice Consul to the United
States. The reception is being tendered under the auspices of
the Detroit Israel Histadrut.
Mr. Gary Eisenberg, of Kenwood Ave., Oak Park, has recently
returned from a stay at the Nippersink Manor, -Wis.
A surprise party honoring Mr. Ralph Radner, of 1843Q Hart-
well, was given recently on the occasion of his 50th birthday
by his daughters, the Misses Harriett, Rosalind and Ellen Radner.
Mr. and Mrs. David M. Gordon (Minette Immerman) have
returned to their home in Oklahoma after a brief visit here with
their mothers, Mrs. Florence Gordon and Mrs. Lena H. Immerman.
Five employees of the Cadillac Electric Supply Co. were
honored by company president Morse Goldman at a recent dinner
in their honor. Honored for years of service were John A. Ander-
son, Hugo A. Hermann, Robert Dau, Arnold Wesling and Oscar
Beeckman.

JNF Women Seek Fund to Plant
100,000 Trees in Nezv Forest

The annual donor tea of the
Ladies' Auxiliary of the Jewish
National Fund, to be held at
noon next Tuesday, at Temple
Israel, will bring to a conclu-
sion the year's major event of
the organization, whose mem-
bers have launched a major
tree-planting project in Israel.
Mrs. Max Stollman, president
of the Auxiliary, announced
that the women have under-
taken a quota of 100,000 trees
in the new Independence For-
est near Jerusalem. This, she
explained, is part of the De-

Paul Olefsky, solo cellist of
the Detroit Symphony Orches-
tra, is a graduate of the Curtis
Institute of Music.
The program will open with
"Fanfare to Israel" by Paul Ben-
Haim and close with the Sym-
phonic Poem "Emek" by Marc
Lavry.

are urged to submit their re-
