Morris Garvett, prominent
Detroit community leader, at-
torney and past president of
the Jewish Community Cen-
ter, has accepted the chair-
manship of the eighth annual
Jewish Book Fair.
Garvett was chairman of the
seventh annual Jewish Book
Fair, which had its highly suc-
cessful three-day run Nov. 22-
24 at the Davison Branch.
Dates for the eighth annual
fair have been set for Nov.

21-23. It will be the first Jew-
ish Book Fair to be held at
the Center's new main build-
ing at Curtis and Meyers
Road.
Garvett received the com-
mendation and thanks of the
Center's board of directors for
his work in steering the 1958
Book Fair.

Michigan and Ernest Gruening,
of Alaska, have joined forces
with 30 other senators in sup-
port of the Kennedy-Ervin bill
to tighten legislation concern-
ing bombing of religious and
other institutions.
The bill supposes that ex-
plosives used in bombings tra-
vel in interstate commerce, and
that individuals who transport
or use them illegally thereby
violate the Federal law. The
crime is both a local and a Fed-
