Israeli Fashions Bride of Rabbi Agress Israel Program

Fashions created by young-
sters in Youth Aliyah institu-
tions of Hadassah . in Israel will
be shown here at 12:30 p.m.,
Tuesday, at Temple Israel.
Sponsored by the Detroit
Chapter of Hadassah as a clim-
ax to its Minyan Mother enroll-
ment drive, the fashion show
will be moderated by Shirley
Eder, WJR radio personality.
A special project of the
minyan drive this year will be
support of children who re-
ceive special care at Israel
centers known as Anne Frank
havens. Ten pledges each of
$30 are added together to sup-
port one child for half a year.
Mrs. Walter Field will be
heard at Tuesday's event in a
special reading from "The
Diary of Anne Frank." Model-
ing for the fashion show will
be the following members:
Mesdames Irving Burnstein,
Albert Finn, Milton Goldrath,
Morrie Isenberg, Kenneth Las-
tar, Fred Levine, Victor Lin-
den, John Mossman, Gerald
Rosen, Norman Wachler and
Leonard Weingarden.
Addressing the gathering will
be Mrs. Alexander M. Dush-
kin, chairman of the Hadassah
Council in Israel and wife of
the noted Hebrew University
professor of education.

SZ Sisterhood Tea
to Honor New Members

A tea is scheduled by the Sis-
terhood of Cong. Shaarey Zedek
at 12:30 p.m., Monday, in the
synagogue social hall. The pro-
gram will honor new members
and will pay tribute to Jewish
Music Month.
Mrs. Samuel Stulberg, chair-
man, announces that Jewish
songs, will be presented by the
Music Study Club chorus with
Dan Frohman conducting.
The Habonim Dance Group
will perform Israeli dances, and
there also will be instrumental
presentations.

JWV Takes Applications
for Bowling Tournament

Applications are still being
accepted for the first annual
Jewish War Veterans Depart-
ment of Michigan bowling tour-
nament, to be held at Star
Lanes, 28435 Northwestern
Highway, Jan. 17 at 7 p.m. and
9:30 p.m.
The event, sanctioned by the
American Bowling Congress, is
open to all JWV members or to
veterans of the U. S. armed
services who are eligible for
JWV. Prizes and trophies will
go to the winners.

Continuing with its program
for Israel, several Bnai Brith
Lodges and Chapters will join
forces during the coming two
weeks to hold special activities
to honor the Jewish state and
its people.
The first of the events,
which are being sponsored as
part of the Bnai Brith Israel
Bond program, will be held by
Ivan S. Bloch and Morgenthau
Lodges and Chapters at 8:30
p.m., Monday, in the Sholem
Aleichem Institute, 19350
Greenfield.
Highlighting the evening's
entertainment will be humorist
and recording artist Mort
Freeman, folk singer Ady
Semel and the Habonim
Dancers. Friends are invited.
Similar programs are plan-
ned by Brandeis, Fox and De-
troit Lodges and Chapters at
8:30 p.m., Jan. 13, at the Hay-
im Greenberg Center, 19161
Schaefer; and Tikvah and
Downtown Lodges and Chap-
ters at 8:30 p.m., Thursday, at
Rainbow Terrace.

Frances Newmark was united
in marriage to Rabbi Hyman
Agress, spiritual leader of the
Evergreen Jewish Congregation,
Detroit, in a recent ceremony
in Chicago's Sheridan Plaza
Hotel.
The new Mrs. Agress is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Her-
man Newmark, of Chicago.
Rabbi Agress is the son of Rabbi
and Mrs. Joshua Agress, of
Brooklyn, N.Y.
The ceremony was conducted
by Rabbi Joshua Agress and
five assisting clergymen.
Mrs. Agress attended Roose-
velt University in Chicago,
while Rabbi Agress graduated
and was ordained from Yeshiva
University. He also holds a
master's degree from Hunter
College.

Levin - Withdraws from
Contest for Judgeship

Saul R. Levin, prominent De-
troit attorney, former Honduran
Consul here, on Friday with-
drew from the race for Re-
corder's Judge.
George C. Parzen, who had
filed for Traffic Court Judge,
also withdrew from the race.
Among the candidates re-
maining in the race for Judge-
ships are:
Judge Victor Baum, who is
a candidate for re-election.
John M. Wise, candidate for
