JNF Tree Planting
Spurred During
Month of Shevat
Hamisha Asar b'Shevat, which
occurs this year on Jan. 24, will
be utilized to stimulate the
planting of trees in Israel, the
Jewish National Fund Council
announced this week.
As part of JNF Month, to be
observed Jan. 10 to Feb. 9, JNF
activities will be conducted in
all local schools, in synagogues
and.through organizations.
Emphasis will be placed on
Tu b'Shevat activities in He-
brew and Sunday schools where
the children annually plant
many hundreds of trees on the
occasion of Hamisha As a r
b'Shevat—Jewish Arbor Day.
Special activities and pro-
grams also are being arranged
by local organizations.
Israeli films and special pro-
gram material will be provided
during the month.
All trees planted during JNF
month will be allocated to the
Independence Forest in Israel.
