Sensibar is known in Israel
as "the man who drained the
Huleh Marshes." Under his plan-
ning and direction and by means
of machinery he provided,
15,000 acres of land were
changed from a malaria breed-
ing wasteland into a fertile agri-
cultural area of high productiv-
ity.
The construction of an oil
pipe line from Elath to the
Mediterranean was projected by
Sensibar in 1954. The pipe line
was built shortly after the Sinai
Campaign.
Sensibar is president of Con-
struction Aggregates Corpora-
tion of Chicago, a company do-
ing engineering work of an in-
ternational scope. He is an ac-
tive member- of the national
board of American Technion So-
ciety and serves on the inter-
national board of governors of
the Israel Institute of Tech-
nology. -

HARRISBURG, Pa. (JTA)—
Governor-elect David L. Law-
rence has announced appoint-
ment of Judge Anne X. Alpern
of Pittsburgh as Attorney-Gen-
eral of Pennsylvania, the first
woman ever to be named to
that cabinet post in the State's
history.
Judge Alpern, who is active
in Pittsburgh Jewish communal
affairs and has served on the
advisory board of the Pitts-
burgh Jewish Outlook, will re-
sign from the Common Pleas
Court to which she was elected
in 1954. She will take office as
Attorney General on Jan. 20.
In announcing Judge Al-
pern's appointment, the Gov-
ernor-elect described her as
having "exceptionally high
qualifications" for the post. He
added that "I am indeed
pleased that she will serve as
chief legal officer of the State
as she did for the city of Pitts-
burgh for many years."
