Israeli Fashion Show to Highlight
Hadassah `Minyan Mothers' Drive

Mrs. Max L. Lichter, vice-
president of projects of Detroit
Hadassah, announces that its an-
nual enrollment of "Minyan
Mothers" will be sparked by a
show of fashions created in
Israel by Hadassah's budding
designers.
The show will be held at
12:30 p.m., Jan. 13, at Temple
Israel and will have Mrs. Alex-
ander M. Dushkin, chairman of
the Hadassah Council in Israel,
as guest speaker.
Mrs. Dushkin came to the
United States to report at the
recent Hadas-
sah convention
in Miami. She
has been living
in Israel since
1949, and prior
to that was
national vice-
president o f
Hadassah and
its first chair-
man of voca-
tional educa
tion — a pro-
Mrs. Lichter gram she help-
ed initiate.
The annual "Minyan" drive is
based on the plan of contribu-
tions from 10 women, of $30
each, being lumped together to
provide a half-year's care for a
child at Hadassah's Anne Frank
havens for children in Israel.
On the Sunday preceding the
fashion show, Jan. 11, a tele-
thon will be held to enlist the
support of Detroit women for
the "Minyan Mothers" program.
The proceeds will be used for
the support of 7 to 12-year-old

children housed in Hadassah's
six Anne Frank havens. Six
more similar shelters are
planned, in addition to the other
rescue and rehabilitation ser-
vices Hadassah carries on in
Israel. The funds sought for the
support of these havens are over
and above the goal Hadassah
must meet for its Youth Aliyah
program, which this year marks
its 25th year of existence. The
program has rehabilitated 85,000
children from 72 countries since
it's inception and currently is
caring for 15,000 wards.
Assisting Mrs. Lichter on the
project are chairmen Mesdames
Leo Orecklin, Walter Field and
Charles Jacobson. Fashion com-
mentator will be Shirley Edar.
