George Jessel Will Entertain at
Festival for Israel Bonds Dec. 13
Highlighting the year's activ-
ities for the sale of Israel Bonds
will be the appearance here on
Saturday evening, Dec. 13, of
Israel's Ambassador to France,
.Yaacov Tsur, at the Hanukah
Festival for Israel, to be held
in the Fountain Room of the
Masonic Temple:
Marking Israel's tenth anni-
versary, the visit here of the
Israeli statesman fills a commit-
ment made earlier this year
which was postponed due to the
crisis in France. Ambassador
.Tsur's return to France and his
subsequent diplomatic meetings
with members of Charles de-
Gaulle's new government are
credited with greatly improved
Israel-France relations.
The Israel Bonds Hanukah
Festival also will be featured by
the appearance here of George
Jessel, the veteran show busi-
ness personality and a devoted
worker in Israel's behalf.
With more than a half cen-
tury in show business, Jessel is
regarded as approaching a new
plateau in his colorful career.
His recent television appear-
ances and his renewed activity
as a film producer have intro-
duced his charm and ready wit
to a new generation of audi-
ences. A singer, actor, writer,
director and producer, Jessel
has made his mark in every
phase of the entertainment in-
dustry of the United States.
Endowed with a deep respect
for his Jewish heritage, Jessel
has long been involved in a
wide variety of Jewish causes.
He has made many visits to Is-
rael, the most recent this sum-
mer when he participated in the
International Mobilization Con-
ference of the Israel Bond Or-
ganization. He was one of the

Fedayeen Raids on Israel Resumed;
Two Killed, One Captured in Foray
TEL AVIV. (JTA)--Egyptian
intelligence a gent s have re-
sumed operations in Israel and
have sent fedayeen units across
the border, it was revealed by
Bamachaneh, weekly newspaper
published by the Israel Army.
It is believed that the recent
smashing of an Egyptian-con-
trolled spy ring in Israel has
forced Arab intelligence offi-
cers to turn once again to
fedayeen groups for reconnais-
sance inside Israel.
In its report, Bamachaneh re-
vealed that several days ago,
during army exercises, an Is-

raeli army platoon observed sus-
picious movements in the vicin-
ity of a cave in the maneuver
area. A lieutenant approaching
the opening of the cave was
greeted by a submachine gun
blast. He responded with hand
grendes which brought out one
live Arab and accounted for
two corpses.
The Arab scout who was ta-
ken alive had a record of a
previous arrest inside Israel.
One of the two men killed was
a notorious commando leader
who escaped from the Gaza
Strip ahead of Israeli units dur-
ing the Sinai campaign, but who
returned there after the Israelis
withdrew.
The commando captured alive,
who had served a ten-month pri-
son term for his last excursion
into Israel and who later re-
turned to Gaza, told his Israeli
captors that the fedayeen unit's
instructions were 'not to kill"
but to gather information about
military movements. The three
men were equipped with subma-
chine guns and guide books on
Israel.

Syria Shells Israel
in New Border Clash
JERUSALEM — A new skir-
mish between the border forces
of Syria and Israel was reported
this week. During the battle,
Syrian artillery emplacements
shelled Israeli settlements all
along the frontier.
Israel reported four casualties
—one dead and three wounded.
Syria said that she had suffered
no casualties.
The battle was ended by UN
truce observers. Cause of the
conflict was not determined,
but was 'said to involve some
livestock that had apparently
strayed over the border.
One more thought, is it wise to spend more money for inferior merchandise
when the best is available at huge savings?
Best wishes for your family's safety.
