LONDON—Moscow's increas-
ing concern with the Soviet Jew-
ish problem and particularly
with the desire of Soviet Jews
to emigrate to Israel was re-
flected Tuesday in announce-
ments in the Soviet capital of
the forthcoming publication of a
new book attacking Israel as a
pawn of the capitalist West.
The new volume will be "Be-
hind the Scenes of Israeli Poli-
tics" by V. Leonidov, well known
Communist publicist, who has
written several articles severely
critical of Israel. It follows by
only a few weeks the publica-
tion of a book on Israel which
severely attacked the Jewish
state and the Communist move-
ment.
The Leonidov diatribe, accord-
ing to advance announcements,
will describe the "aggressive ad-
ventures" of Israel's politicians
in planning attacks on Arab
countries and will also "demon-
strate" t h e contacts between
them and the "capitalists across
the seas."

day noon by Edwin Lukas, di-
rector of the American Jewish
Committee National Affairs De-
partment. His subject will be,
"The Impact of the Southern
Dilemma in the North." In ad-
dition, the delegates will hear
a report by Dr. Albert Mayer,
of Wayne State University, on
the Russell Woods Study on
changing neighborhoods in the
Detroit area.
Mrs. Oscar M. Zemon is
chairman of the arrangements
committee. Mrs. Martin L. But-
zel is chairman of the hostesses
committee.

the Bible published in English
in Israel, it was announced here
by Jehuda Makavi, president of
the Israeli firm International
Publishing Co., Ramat Gan,
Israel.
The four volumes, entitled
"Views of the Biblical World,"
represent the first comprehen-
sive attempt yet made to illus-
trate from contemporary ob-
jects the more important pass-
ages of the Bible in the order
in which they appear in the
Scriptural record.

The first volume, already in
the United States, includes beau-
tiful full color reproductions
from Biblical paintings and oth-
er objects owned by the great
museums of the world, color
photos of objects found in ex-
cavations in the Holy Land, as

cavated sites and reconstructed

Sell Bagdad Property
Left by Fleeing Jews

JERUSALEM (JTA) — The
property of Jews who left Iraq
was auctioned off in the central
marketplace of Bagdad this
week, Radio Bagdad announced.
An estimated 130,000 Iraqi
Jews quit Iraq for Israel in the
past 10 years.
The Israeli government has
repeatedly stated that the
property Iraqi Jews were forced
to leave behind as a condition
of emigration will have to be
computed in any payment of
compensation to the Palestine
Arab refugees.
Israel, which has pledged an
overall compensation settlement
to the Arab refugees, has in-
sisted that the value of
property of all Jews seized
when they quit Arab countries
for Israel, would be deducted
from the final compensation
figure to be paid out by Israel.

The editorial body engaged
in this work in Jerusalem is
composed of scholars under the
chairmanship of Prof. Benjamin
Mazar, world-renowned archae-
ologist and president of Hebrew
University.
The American firm which
contracted for the entire En-
glish edition is the Jordan Pub-
lication Inc., of Chicago, of
which Jordan Kaizer is presi-
dent. Sale of "Views of the Bib-
lical World" in the United
States will start in about three
months. The four-volume work
has been published in Hebrew
for sale in Israel and will also
be published in French, German
and Spanish for sale throughout
the world.
