Although still not completely finished and furnished inside, the new Mishkan Israel is al- ready making plans = to extend its facilities to include a library, a place for daily minyan serv- ices and a school. Much emphasis has been placed on the latter, since in Rabbi Stollman's words, "Today, a synagogue without a school and room for youth activities has no future." Sunday's ceremonies will be conducted under a canopy out- side, if the weather permits; otherwise there will be a pro- cession of the Sifrei Torah from the social hall to the sanctuary. Maariv services and a Hanukah lighting ceremony will conclude the program. Organized on Hastings Street about 1912, Mishkan Israel oc- cupied only one other tempora- ry home—at Taylor and 12th St.—besides the building at Linwood and Blaine.
