THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS—Fri day, November 28, 1958-8 The Suburban Community. Some Problems, Simchas and • • a Lade Girl for Sale Cheap , By the Oak-Woodser Somewhat . exaggerated, yet with the typical message of Jewish hopefulness was the Dayenu cartoon which appear- ed in last week's issue of the Jewish News. Showing two men in con- versation, one is saying to the other, "Me worried, Sam? Rid- iculous! Besides fears of anti- Semitism, unemployment, hy- drogen war and my failing health . . what do I really have to worry about?" There is the same message to Thanksgiving. We look about us and see angry headlines proclaiming diffi- culties with the world, yet we are able to smile at our problems and still see that there is a great deal of good in our mixed up world. The same holds true on a personal basis. Like the par- ents who had one little girl for sale, cheap, after she spil- led floor wax all over the newly-upholstered couch. But then, across the table on Thanksgiving Day, her face smeared with cranberry sauce, her blonde hair gnarled with stuffing from the turkey, her hand waving the drumstick which somehow seemed as big as she — then she couldn't be purchased for any price. We recently heard a rabbi speak on life's tragedies and its simchas. He mentioned that while we tend to take stock of the _troublesome . events, we often forget all the good things that happen to us. It takes a few reminders Just mix -- and bake! DROMEDAY R CAKE MIXES • MAKE THE CAKE I The Women's Division of the nounces Mrs. Leo Orecklin, Jewish Welfare Federation is chairman of the teas.
