a call for more vigorous law enforcement to halt bombings and
threats in the South.

bomb scare telephone call, unusual security measures have been
established for the institution.
PHOENIX—Reinwald Lewitz, 21, who came from Germany
in January 1957 and allegedly boasted that he had been a
member of the Hitler youth movement, and two other suspects,
18 and 16, were arrested on charge of anti-Semitic violence
against a Phoenix Jewish family and a Jewish nursing home.
CLEVELAND—The National Council of Churches of Christ
in the United States unanimously adopted a resolution request-
ing its international affairs department to conduct an inquiry
into the reported moves in Soviet Russia to destroy the human
rights there and, if justified to make a strong representation
to the Kremlin "to prevent any anti-Semitic movement such as
our civilization has too often witnessed in the past."

LONDON—Leo Abse, who won a by-election handily as a
Laborite, became the 20th Jew to sit in the current Parliament,
as a member from Pontypool, Monmouthshire . . . The largest
gift by anybody in Britain to the Hebrew University of Jeru-
salem was announced by the Harry and Abe Sherman Founda-
tion whose 100,000 pound ($280,000) gift will be applied toward
the cost of constructing the just completed administration build-
ing. The Sherman Building, as it will now be known, is a seven-
story structure, the largest on the campus, which dominates
the entrance to Jerusalem.
WIESBADEN—Federal German Office of Statistics figures
show that 98 Jewish students were enrolled in West German
universities last year, among them being 21 women, 74 Jews
having studied in West Germany proper, seven in the Saar and
17 in West Berlin.
