Top Israel Bond Saleswoman

The Jewish Welfare Federa-
tion recently won two awards
for outstanding publicity at
the national community inter-
pretation exhibit held at the
27th annual General Assembly
of the Council of Jewish Fed-
erations and Welfare Funds.
Federation was cited for the
best Women's Division inter-
pretation and the best set of
year-round interpretation ma-
terials submitted in competition
with large city entries from all
parts of the country.
The awards were presented
by Isidore Schifrin, of Cincin-
nati, chairman of the Council's
publicity awards committee.
Mrs. Henry Wineman ac-
cepted the Women's Division
award, and the Federation
president, Judge Theodore
Levin, accepted the interpreta-
tion award.

campaign will be the Israel Fashion Festival at Scottish Rite
Auditorium on Monday, at 1 p.m. Admisison to this gala dis-
play of fashions created in Israel by leading couturiers will
be open to women who have paid for their 1958 Israel Bond
purchases, who sell $300 worth of Bonds or collect $500 in
Israel Bond pledges or who subscribe by the day of the
Fashion Festival.

gram will include a wide va-
viety of American and Israeli
entertainers.
One of his country's key dip-
lomats, Tsur has been Ambas-
sador to France since 1953. He
came to this post after a series
of important assignments in
South America where he was
instrumental in instituting dip-
lomatic relations between Is-
rael and Argentina,- Chile, and
Paraguay.
A native of Poland, Tsur was
15 when he and his parents
emigrated to Palestine in 1921.
A graduate of Hebrew Univer-
sity, he took graduate degrees
at the University of Florence
in Italy and the Faculte de Let-
tres of the Sorbonne Univer-
sity in Paris.
Prior to joining the diplo-
matic corps, Tsur was a prom-
inent journalist, serving, at one
time, as editor of the daily
newspaper, "Haaretz." During
World War II, he served as
Liaison Officer between the Jew-
ish battalions from Palestine
and British headquarters in
Cairo. He was a leader of. Haga-
nah, and was active in the res-
cue of survivors of the Nazi
occupation of Europe.
The Hanukah Festival here
will be open to all 1958 Israel
Bond purchasers. The audi-
ence will be seated at tables as
the program will be presented
in caharet style. The festival is
scheduled to begin promptly at
8 p.m.

Human Rights Week

(AJP)—Pres-
ident Eisenhower has pro-
claimed Dec. 10-17 Human
Rights Week.
Dec. 10 marks the 10th anni-
versary of the signing of the
Universal Declaration of Human
Rights at the UN. Dec. 15, it
was pointed out here, will be
the 167th anniversary of the
adoption of the U.S. Bill of
Rights.

Ben Touster Reelected
As Treasurer of CARE
Ben Touster, New York man-
ufacturer and leader in Jewish
philanthropies, was reelected
treasurer of CARE at the annual
meeting of the nonprofit over-
seas aid agency.
