ORT Sabbath and a joint
theater party are two major
events being planned this. week
by members of the eight local
chapters of Women's American
ORT.
The traditional sabbath eve
observance will take place this
evening at synagogues and
temples throughout. the city,
when prayers of thanksgiving
will be offered for the rehabili-
tation through vocational train-
ing offered to persecuted and
impoverished Jews throughout
the world.

Two movies will be shown,
and there will be a performance
by Reno and Rita, a Latin-
American dance team. A sale
of home-baked goods, toys,
aprons, hand-made jewelry, an-
tiques ad gift items also will be
featured.
Under the chairmanship of
Mrs. Jack Rubin, participating
groups include N o r t h w e s t,
Nor thea s t, Northland, Vera
Bramson, Huntington Woods,
Suburban Hills, Oakwood and
Hearthstone Chapters.
According to Mrs. Kurtz, pro-
ceeds will go to the group's
MOT (Material for Overseas
Training) fund, which provides
tools and equipment for ORT
schools, and to the guardian-
ship program, which supplies
food, clothing and transporta-
tion for ORT students.
ORT is the largest non-gov-
ernmental vocational training
agency in the world, presently
teaching 33,000 students in 500
installations located in 20
countries.

EDDY GILMORE, Pulitzer
prize-winning AP reporter, will
speak at Detroit Town Hall on
Wednesday. His lecture, a re-
port on Europe and the Middle
East, will be given at 11 a.m. in
Ford Auditorium.

Habonim Organizes
Group for Young Adults

High school juniors and sen-
iors and college students have
formed a new group in the
Habonim Labor Zionist youth
movement, which meets at '7
p.m., Sundays, in the Hayim
Greenberg Center.
Martin Fealk has been named
president, and Sandra Silber-
berg will serve as secretary. For

Figure," a three-act comedy by
Harry Kurnitz, at 8:30 p.m., Sat-
urday, Sunday, and Monday in
the Brown Memorial Chapel of
the Temple. The play is a re-
cent Broadway hit and concerns
an eccentric millionaire art col-
lector and his purchase of a
painting of a reclining figure.
In conjunction with the play,
an art exhibit will be featured
in the adjacent Franklin Memo-
rial Hall. Works of outstanding
Detroit artists as well as that of
Temple members will be shown.
Tickets are available from
Temple members, or at the door
prior to each performance.

Turover Aid to Honor
City of Hope Auxiliary

Turover Aid Society will dedi-
cate its meeting at 8:30 p.m.,
Monday, in the Turover Temple,
12129 Dexter, to the Detroit
Auxiliary of the City of Hope.
Mr. and Mr-S. Jacob Zeldes,
chairman, announces that Ber-
nard Foster, district director of
City of Hope from Chicago, Ill.,
will be guest speaker. A new
film about the institution, star-
ring Mercedes McCambridge will
be featured.
A social hour will follow.
Members are urged to bring
their families and friends.
