kibbutz of Hashomer Hatzair
movement has now occupied
the site of Adamit, on a high
mountain plateau hard on the
Lebanese border which has been
opened up by the Jewish Na-
tional Fund for settlement
through land reclamation and
construction of ,oan approach
road crossing a wild mountain
gorge and climbing up a preci-
pitous slope. Of the 1,200 du-
nams allocated to the new vil-
lage on the plateau, 250 have
already been prepared by the
JNF immediately to be taken
under the plough. The settlers
are to be employed by the JNF
in the reclamation of the re-
maining land. They have also
been given a tract of 800 du-
nams •of irrigable land lying in
the valley at the feet of Adamit
Plateau.
After the founding several
weeks ago of Dovev, a new im-
migrants' settlement situated
over 15 miles farther east, this
is the second in a chain of eight
new outposts planned for this
border region. The occupation
of a third village. Avivim, by
its settlers is to take place
shortly.
