Center Schedules
Youth Programs

Activities at the 10 Mile
branch of the Jewish Commu-
nity Center will revolve this
month around programs of
young adults, juniors and
tweens.
Young adults, 18 to 35, will
hold a social and organizational
dance at 9 p.m., Tuesday, at the
Center, with music provided by
Iry Field's orchestra. Trans-
portation will be provided from
the Davison Center at 8 p.m.,
while Northwest ,:esidents need-
ing transportation may call
Allan Gelfond, WE. 3-7380.
The junior playground pro-
gram, under the direction of
Peter Kroopnick, gets under
way this month, with football
and soccer from 3:30 to 5 p.m.,
Mondays and Wednesdays; in-
struction in soccer, football and
basketball on Tuesdays; and
tournaments in teatherball, bas-
ketball and paddle tennis on
Thursdays.
A field day is planned for
Nov. 20, when races, relays and
field events will be held from
3:30 to 5:30 p.m., and on Nov.
28, when there is no school,
there will be a junior picnic.

Tweens will have an outing
to Camp Tamarack on Nov. 28,
leaving at 9 a.m. and returning
at 4 p.m. Lunches will be taken
by the participants.

Dr. S. E. Gould to Research
Venezuelan Heart Diseases

At the request of the Venezu-
elan government, Dr. S. E.
Gould, professor of clinical pa-
thology at Wayne State Univer-
sity medical school, has left for
that country to make a five-
week study of inflammatory
heart diseases there. Dr. Gould,
whose specialty is parasitic dis-
eases, will work in conjunction
with University of Venezuela
researchers while there. Venezu-
elans suffer from an unusually
high percentage of inflamma-
tory heart disease.

New York Policeman
Graduates Cantors School

NEW YORK, (JTA)—A New
York patrolman who studied for
five years on his free time, has
been certified as a cantor by
the Hebrew Union College-
Jewish Institute of Religion's
School of Sacred Music and will
sing his first service Nov. 9 at
the annual memorial rites of
the Shomrim Society of the New
York City Police Department.
Patrolman Ian Cosman, 39, a
veteran of 18 years service on
the force, has announced he
will continue to serve as one of
the "city's finest."
